Geriatric/Dementia Room

Geriatric

This program specializes in engaging individuals with patience, love, and understanding. To make a difference in the lives of people we serve takes a personal touch by someone who cares. Our employees take interest in those we care for and understand that kindness is our key ingredient to care. We know the simple act of caring is heroic and part of why this program is exceptional. A simple program philosophy is understanding that we rise by lifting others.

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop dementia at a rate similar to older adults in the general population. However adults with Down syndrome develop dementia at a greater rate. The DT geriatric dementia group includes individuals who need cognitive supports in an environment that is safe, comfortable and quiet. This allows people in this program to receive the guidance they require in a structured setting with focused engaging activities.
